About us
I founded Barrios Consulting Group in 2024 after more than 12 years working as a transportation consultant in the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Florida.
I have supported many clients in California and Florida, ranging from small municipalities needing help with a troublesome intersection, to private companies seeking traffic studies for their developments, to state DOTs wanting to understand the impact of statewide programs.
This is what I can bring to your project:
- A passion for problem-solving, rooted in a careful balance of creativity, innovation, and appreciation of proven solutions.
- Capability to analyze, visualize, and communicate all types of transportation data, ranging from simple traffic counts to areawide connected vehicle datasets.
- On-the-field experience with safety audits covering all modes of travel, combined with expertise in conducting systemic analyses across entire regions and states.
- A proven track record of completing traffic studies efficiently and in a timely manner, adhering to all applicable standards.
I look forward to helping you think through and solve your most challenging transportation problems.
I am a licensed Professional Engineer (Civil) in California and Florida.

My transportation fun facts
- I have commuted to work by bicycle for more than ten years. It gives me a nice break between home and office, as well as constant lessons on how to make bicycling safer and more comfortable.
- I keep a collection of transit smart cards at home. I love to travel and make every effort to get (and use) transit smart cards wherever I go. It’s great when cities just serve them out of a vending machine (kudos to SunRail).
- I am originally from Colombia, where the first major Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system was created (Bogotá). I also had the opportunity to ride the original BRT in Curitiba, Brazil.
- My Master’s thesis was on the topic of carsharing. In places where people don’t need a car on a daily basis, carsharing is a very economical way to have access to a car when you need one.
